 One direction fandom 

One Direction is a band name most girl under the age of 30 will know of. They were a boy band of 5 guys who were on the X-factor as teenagers themselves. They were not a band originally until the judges had convinced them to combine all their talent together and become a band. Soon after they placed 3rd in X-Factor, they kept together as a band and kept performing. They then kept making and releasing music and grew together as a band. They were extremely successful and kept being successful for the next decade, even today each of the boys are still famous but in their own way. The fanbase these boys have created is remarkable and is still going after them breaking apart 5 years ago. 

The fanbase

The one direction fanbase grew as the years went on. People called themselves "directioners". On Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other online sources, the fandom would communicate all things band related. ranging from how cute the boys were, to how much they loved their music, and to their personal lives outside of the band including love interests. People would write fan fiction about them, which is a story that a fan wrote about their artists. As years went on they became more and more famous their fanbase grew even more and still continues to today. 

This fandom was also creating online videos of cartoon characters that represented the boys. This took fan fiction to a new level. They had cartoons based off the fan fiction stories people wrote about. On YouTube there was a series of clips released of the adventurous adventures of one direction which has over 48 million views since it was released back in 2012. It has made up stories that people wrote about one direction and brings it to life in a cartoon with characters that sound and act like the real boys. https://youtu.be/1o3fcUH-yPQ


 Netflix has also released movies that were based off of one direction fan fictions. The movie "After" was based off of a fan fiction written on Wattpad which was published into a book series and now a movie series. Most "directioners" watch this movie series and is obsessed with it because they picture Harry Styles being the main actor in the movie. It keeps the life of One direction alive even though it isn't anymore. 

    Although One Direction isn't together anymore, people are still considered "directioners". People still support each guy and what they accomplish. I have been to a Niall Horan concert and a Harry Styles one, and most people who go started supporting them through one direction. Niall still played One direction songs, the crowd went insane when the music to Fool's Gold, and Night Changes came on. The Band is still supported today and the fandom isn't dying out. So many people still love the band and want them back together but also support how far they have come since the band has ended

Family of Directioners

    My family and I have contributed to this fandom in many ways. We have been to multiple concerts, bought all the dolls and had all their posters around our rooms. Whenever we heard tickets were going on sale in our area, my dad would be on the computer first thing in the morning trying to get my sisters and I tickets for it. He would even try to get us tickets for our friends too to go with us. My favorite memory with my best friend is us going to see Katy Perry in concert then going to One direction the next day. We had so much fun that weekend and bought so many Katy Perry and one direction merchandise at the concerts. The following photos are the ones of my best friend and I at both concerts. 


    My little sister and I always loved to play with dolls when we were younger. When one direction first came out with dolls to play with my parents bought it for us right away. We would play with them everyday after school and would only stop to eat dinner or if my mom made us do our homework. We would have one direction music playing in the background when we played. Everyday in the car we would request "Up All Night" or "What Makes You Beautiful" and my mom would groan and put it on. She was sick of the music but since none of us girls were arguing she let it be.

  Background Info.      Johnny Cash started to sing in the 1950's after his service in the military. He became known as the man in black due to the fact he always wore black clothes. During the 60's he began to fight with drugs. He had this battle his whole life.  In the 80's his sales began to drop. Then in the 90's he once again flourished. Then in 2003 he pasted away. Throughout his life he won many awards. He was able to do so after his death as well.    The Fandom In 2005, Walk the Line, a movie about his life was recorded. This movie was made for fans to see his life story. The One Who Fills a Void

       One day I was spending time in Benton at my uncle's house like I do often. Me and him were working on a 1948 John Deere G that he had bought in the 70's and is now mine. My uncle is an older gentleman who was never married and never had kids, so I am almost the closest thing he has ever had to a son or grandson. Which after my grandfathers passed away years ago, he really filled the void and became almost more like a grandfather figure in way. On this particular day we were trying to clean up the tractor after it was caught in a flood. My uncle was a truck driver and a diesel mechanic his whole life and has a small shop in his backyard full of expensive tools that had almost all gotten caught in the flood waters. We had already spent days cleaning the shop and the tools. At this point we were both getting tired and discouraged. My Best Friend

"A sister is someone that is not only your sister but a best friend." That is what Julie, my sister, and I always say because we are truly best friends. We do everything together. We are only 17 months apart in age. My mom would always dress us in the same outfit when we were little and everyone would always ask if we were twins. Julie is someone that I always want by my side, which has made it hard and extremely different since I have moved into college. We have made so many memories together and get along so well. My sister makes the harder times easier and the easy times more fun. We tell each other everything and would always make time in the day too caught up and just talk to each other. Most of the time those conversations would happen at night while everyone is sleeping. Either one of us would go into the other's bedroom and sit on whoever's bed.
