Just a pair of Joker's

"Any man can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad." These words spoken by Anne Geddes, take the words right out of my mouth.  It turns out a father can be more than your regular parent. He can also be a bestfriend. My Dad is one of a kind. If I was a guy, I think I’d be a mini walking version of him. Not only personality wise, but physical looks too. He is blonde, blue eyed, and maybe stands only about 5'8 like me except I'm only 5'5.  He is humorous, goofy, and loving but also knows when to be serious and knows how to give advice to me when its needed. I would not be the person I am today if it were not for the wise words, stupid jokes, and love that I receive from my dad everyday.

High school graduation

My father, Stephen Kaminski, is a technician and works with the company "Superior Plus". He fixes individuals house problems like heating and air conditioning along with pool heaters and etc. His job describes him perfectly because he loves to help people and is a very social guy. He definitely wasn't always like that unfortunately. He expresses,  "if it wasn't for meeting your mother, I probably would have been in big trouble". My mom and dad balance each other out very well. Back in the day, he attended school at Crestwood High School in a small town titled Mountain Top, PA. He was always getting into trouble whether it was from ditching school or doing things he wasn't supposed to. If it weren't being high school sweethearts and married for over 20 years to my mom, he most likely would not be where he is now. In high school, he was very into basketball. " I love how the ball is constantly moving and it never gets boring to watch" he explained. Not only did he love it, but he was very skilled at it too. He won a foul shot shooting contest and made it to states. It was a passion of his at that time but he said, "I had to move on and get a job and I didn't have the time to play anymore."

My Mom and Dad
Speaking about passion, he has always loved music. Whether is was heavy metal rock like Motley Crue, all the way to old school country like Johnny Cash, he loved it all. Even when he was a a little boy, he would always wear big headphones on the bus and close his eyes just enjoying the music. The bus driver would have to wake him up every time to get off his stop. He sang and played guitar in a band when he was around 19 years old with some old friends of his. They would play at local gigs like small town restaurants and school events. Till this day, he will sometimes just randomly pull out his guitar at home and play some songs.  He claims that "Music relates and speaks to everyone in different ways and that's why its so powerful. Its individuals way of expressing themselves creatively without having the world judge you but instead either relate or jam out to it".

Guitar
Even though my father is 44 years old, he still has that youth in him. We love going on vacations and doing new things. A couple years back, my family and I were on vacation in Salem MA, and we all stopped for dessert and went into a shop. While we were in the shopping store, someone broke into our car and stole some of our belongings. Nothing to important was taken, but when we got back to the car, my mom was very mad and on the phone with the police while my dad just said “well, at least he didn’t steal my donuts”. As serious as the situation was, we all just laughed because he lightened the mood. He is the type of person that will make you realize that if there’s nothing you can do about it, then you just have to let it go or try to stay positive. He has never failed to make me laugh even if its not the best situation to do so.

When you are a little girl, your dad is your hero. In my case, I may not be so little anymore, but nothing has changed. Despite all the ups and downs life throws at you, he has always been there for me and has got me through the toughest times of my life. For this reason along with the other million ones I could l could write about, is why my dad is so significant to my life.
